Why So Serious?

Well last night I went and viewed the most hyped movie of the summer and really of the past two years.  The Dark Knight failed to disappoint.  The movie was just dynamite.  The acting was awesome, the story was intriguing, and the effects were spot on.  The main thing everybody was talking about though was the Joker, and rightly so.  Heath Ledger delivered a very unique side of Batman’s nemesis that I would continue to watch as long as the two were paired.  He showed the actor as a demented villian, yet one that’s almost an idealist and an intellectual.  Truly insane, and truly awesome.  Some users on Yahoo! review it low because it’s ‘not for kids’.  Others wish they ‘would stop making Batman to be somebody from the pits of hell and more like the cartoon’.  For all of you who agree, I’ve got something to say. PG-13 dilweeds!  The movie wasn’t made to be all happy and goofy and corny and gay (repetition of happy, I’m not trashing homosexuals here).  The film was made to targeted for people who can grasp the idea of good filmaking and bypass the views that Batman is just a cartoon character.  This is a movie I would recommend to anybody who likes good cinema.  I strongly believe Ledger is in the running for an Oscar for his performance, and I also am looking forward to a third installment.  Yes, I do believe that Two-Face survived his encounter with Batman, and will live to fight him another movie.  Which brings me to my next point about the film.  Two-Face (after he becomes disfigured) looks plain gross.  Take the Tommy Lee version of him and throw it out of the window, because there are no similarities.  I believe the new Harvey Dent looks much better than the old ‘cartoony’ version, if you will.  I see a really good third film, but not as good as the second, because there is no other Batman villian like the Joker.

Well that about does it for this review.  Until next time America.  Take it easy.

I was able to go to the movies this weekend and catch the new, yet not highly advertised movie Juno.  This movie is just plain cute, and I know how gay that sounds.  Ellen Page plays the role of a pregnant 16 year old girl who has found parents to take care of her unborn child.  The series of events that happens from beginning to end are hilarious, and the dialogue is very well thought up.  This movie has the same type of feel as Little Miss Sunshine.  If you are looking for a good movie to watch in theatres, don’t miss out on Juno.

I watched the movie entitled Snatch, as if you couldn’t figure that out from the big bold title.  This movie is a treat.  Brad Pitt and his accent is probably one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard in my life.  Great dialogue combined with great acting.  If you want a good laugh and a movie you can watch over and over, Snatch is your kind of flick.

This movie is just plain good.  The story was a tad unbelievable in spots, but for the most part I enjoyed it.  Denzel is as good as always.  An enjoyable cinematic experience.

The more movies I watch with Will Smith, the more I like his acting.  This movie is no exception.  Smith’s acting, however, was really the only major strong point.  The movie, which lasted a mere 1hr 45min, took the whole time for anything major to happen.  Once it did, the movie was pretty much over.  The female choice for lead actress was terrible, and it didn’t follow the book.  The plot was way different.  For the most part it was just an average movie.
